On the 5th of September 2022, the EAI responded to the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications consultation on tackling energy poverty.
EAI members were keen to advocate for direct customer support measures, outlining the need for greater access to the retrofits as energy efficiency is the most effective measure of tackling energy poverty. The costs associated with retrofits can be brought down through setting VAT at 0% for retrofit projects and offering low-cost loan schemes.
